The Recording Process
A good mix starts at the Source
The overall recording philosophy at Electric Eye is that its better to record the sound you want than to try and achieve it in post. That means going into painstaking detail when it comes to things like microphone placement, Amp settings, Strings, Drum tuning and even what type of pick! The key to a professional sound is keeping the recordings as natural as possible!
Perfect take
Another crucial element to a great song is a great performance! To help this Electric Eye has a relaxed and friendly environment catered to each performer the get the best out of them. Whether you work better in a small intimate setting or when the pressure is on.
Overdubs
Not only do we record what you want to hear but our experienced studio engineer is always listening for creative opportunities to add overdubs, harmonies and double tracks which will add elements to the final mix you may have overlooked!
Vocals
The focus of every song
We all know how important vocals are. At Electric Eye we take care to make sure each word is clear and sounds as good as possible. We choose a microphone from our selection based on your voice and position it to reduce unwanted frequencies, pops and sibilance.
Drums
The Foundation of the song
The Drums are the most difficult instrument to record. They require multiple mics aligned so they have good phase coherence, Fresh skins and Precision Tuning! With a combination of expertise, experience and determination we persist until the perfect drum sound is achieved!
Guitars
Tone is king!
For any Rock recording, the Guitar is king! At Electric Eye we aim to get that tone you've been looking for with a combination of precise microphone placement, tasteful amp setting and re-amping a Direct Input recording to thicken the sound and capture the ultimate performance.
Bass
For added power
Recording a combination of Direct signal and a mic'd up amp leaves options for the mix process. Re-amping is also available to capture a tight performance that will lock in the groove. Power and consistency is key!
